The three parables in Luke 15 offer one takeaway. Each parable demonstrates the excitement of the lost being celebrated upon their return to the owner. The lost sheep wandered away from the herd. The herder found the sheep and returned it to the herd. Look back to King David; as a boy, he approached King Saul with a story of killing a bear and a lion to rescue his father's sheep. The lost coin was valuable to the woman. She cleaned the floors until she found the tenth coin. The last parable brings us closer to what we are to understand. As sinners, we treat God as an unneeded protector, but as soon as life hits rock bottom, we call on the Lord. God wants our love at all times. God wants us to rejoice with those rejoicing. We should not sit outside avoiding feasting because a special meal was prepared for a sinner returning to God. God is seeking to bring all into his family. What about you? Do you know God? Have you confessed your sins? God is waiting for us all to return to him for our needs.
