Rejoicing In Heaven

Luke 15:8-10 "Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn't she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.' In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

Jesus continues with his discussion about the importance of the lost. The first seven verses explain the rejoicing of one lost being found. His example was a sheep. The joy felt by the shepherd can not measure the joy in Heaven over a lost soul coming home.

In the second parable, Jesus gives the example of a woman with ten silver coins. The coin may reference the Greek drachma.[1] The coin is equal to a day’s wage. Imagine looking for money that was in a safe place to discover a tenth is missing. What extremes would you pursue to find the missing money? The woman in the story lit her lamp and sweep her house carefully.

God is seeking a relationship with each of us. Accepting his call will bring about your transformation. Only Christ can remove the blemishes in our character and make us as white as snow. This parable is about a coin that cannot decide where it will be from one minute to the next. Let us surrender to a loving God and hear the angels rejoice over our return home.
